A wilderness adventure wrapped in a mystery with a thriller on the side. Dimock interviewed everyone alive who had even marginally entered the Hydes' orbit, which makes for some confusion, but so does a wave train on a wild river. The many photographs offer a breath-catching eddy to slow the charging pace. Descending the Colorado in a sweep scow unsupported was a crazy idea, but it was a decade of crazy ideas that worked out better than this trip. A father's search for his missing child is the heart of the story, and Bessie Hyde's poetry is a mournful reminder that the couple were young, smart with a bright future ahead, but for this crazy idea.
it's a thin metaphor but i love dystopias! and dream control
Book for class. The science went over my head many times but I enjoyed the historical aspect and the attempt to write complex sci. theories into readable chapters.
This series continues to get an "A" on my list for creativity. Riordan brings Greek mythology to life for YA readers. Characters are well developed. Plot is well thought out, creative and the action is fast-paced. Every bit as exciting as the Harry Potter series. (Potter fans may notice a few subtle "Rowling hat tip" plot elements). In this book, Percy and his friends discover a secret underground Labyrinth which includes an entrance within camp boundaries. This time, Annabelle leads the team on a dangerous quest to find the inventor of the labyrinth before the evil Kronos.
