This was the first work by Kingsolver that I read. Honestly, it took me a while to get into, but once I did, I couldn't stop reading it! And the rest, as they say, is history... I've read just about everything by her!

About halfway through and I'm sad to say it doesn't seem like it will rise to the top of my favorites list. While American Gods seemed a refinement of the world building begun in Neverwhere (and a wholly original novel with compelling characters).....this seems like more of the same. Not terrible by any means but the harshest criticism I can level is that it's easy to put down and feels altogether familiar.
