salamtermos

Not a book with any plot or mystery. Just a factual book about common trees from around the world. I was hoping it would be just North America. I guess I will have to travel now because some of these trees sound awesome.

In concept this book is fascinating. A world where your ability to love is cut out of your brain at 18 so that everyone can live in safe monotony is a sounds like an interesting premise. What I enjoyed about Oliver's concept is the detail of how horrific this world proves to be. Imagine a world where parents can't love their children, where your sibling stops loving you once they turn 18, where your passions and interests are forgotten once you receive the "cure". The strength of this book lies in these facts and Lena's realization of how the cure really works. The major plot of the book centers around Lena meeting and falling in love with Alex. The story here is somewhat predictable and leads well into the next book in the series.
