Chime was one of those books that took me a little while to get used to. The writing style is so unique and different I had a bit of a hard time following the story at first. Once I got used to Briony and how she would process her thoughts and speak, the story flowed from there. I certainly enjoyed the storyline and its uniqueness. I liked most of the characters and the ending wrapped up nicely. I do wish Briony hadn't hated herself throughout most of the book. I know this was key to the plot and not totally giving away the ending, but it did get a bit depressing at times. I just can't imagine a 17 year old girl really feeling nothing. Overall I liked the story and it was a good read.
Loved it! Could not put it down!
A little long-winded at 600 pgs, but nevertheless a great read that uses symbols such as dry wells, cats with crooked tails, and Boris the Manskinner to explore 1930s Manchuria and 1980s Toyko.
