I loved this book. I love dogs and believe the relationship between human and owner offers many life lessons.

I've heard very good things about this book, however, I had a hard time getting through it. I actually did NOT get through it. It gets very slow and repetitive in parts and lost my interest. I've picked it up again and again intending to finish it but haven't been able to.

My second read of this book. I liked it more the second time through. Allende writes of obsession, freedom, and love following the life of Eliza and her 'adopted' family on through her hunt for her teenage love in the land of the California gold rush.
