The story idea is really good but the writing isn't very sophisticated. I think the author should have researched some things a bit better before trying to write about them.

One of my favorite books. I think I like Ellis because, most of us (hopefully) will never find ourselves in the sort of situations that his characters do - but through him, we can witness the seedy side of life like a fly on the wall, without actually having to partake of it. And frankly, I admit, I'm curious! His characters are like (certain) reality tv-stars: their personalities are one-dimensional and vapid, and we don't care what happens to them. I personally keep reading because I love being infuriated by their behavior.
