I am really, really enjoying the Namesake. I didn't love her short stories (although they did win the pulitzer so if you like short stories, go for it), but this one is very readable. Her writing is beautiful. It's an incredibly personal portrait-in-words of both people and places that pulls you in and reminds you how much we all feel like immigrants a good portion of the time.

Easy read. Some obvious things. Could use more concrete examples of scripts and discussion of solving basic technical problems presented by story telling with the camera.

If you are too worried about the future, full of regrets of the past and never in the present, then definately read this book! If your life is so fast and never have time to reflect then read this. I think a lot of college graduates or people in transition can find this simple book help you focus on the right things at the right time.

Patricia Brigg's second (more like 2.5) story in the Alpha & Omega picks up shortly after Cry Wolf. If you are really interested in the full experience of the characters, you should also read her short story "The Seeing Eye" in Strange Brew, which introduces Tom and Moira, but it's not absolutely necessary the way that "Alpha and Omega" was necessary to understand Cry Wolf. Once again Charles and Anna work on strengthening their relationship despite all their emotional baggage. I think that this aspect of the story is one of my favorites because it is so real. Brigg's does a nice job of depicting the struggles of 2 people trying to establish trust in one another. I did really like the rest story of this book, which introduces werewolves from around the world, but I bumped it down to 3 stars because I found myself having to reread passages several times to figure out what was going on. I think part of the reason for this is that Briggs switches perspectives so many time in the book and these switches often come in the middle of a chapter. So you'll be reading along seeing things from Anna's perspective and then have a switch to Charles. Aside from that minor annoyance it was overall a good story.

It was interesting, but all the books in this series are starting to get really depressing. None of them have happy endings. And seriously, who wants to keep reading books that end unhappily?
