After enjoying several of Hoffman's books, this one was a real disappointment. As soon as I got to know & enjoy the characters, the chapter ended & it was on to a new character and story. The stories themselves became repetitious.

Bitterblue starts out with a gripping prologue that is probably the best part of the book. Not that the rest of the book is bad, at all, it is extremely well written. Bitterblue is more serious and horrifying than Cashore's other novels--Leck was one MESSED UP guy--and while Fire is still my favorite, I really enjoyed it. The ending wrapped the book up but left a few things hanging which makes me wonder where we'll be taken to next and who the MC will be. Personally, I'm hoping Giddon will be a big star, I really loved him in this book. Or Hava. So much could happen with Hava as the MC... Also, Katsa and Po are back as supporting characters and it's hard not to love them :)

I did not finish this book entirely - it was the way it was written really. OVerall the story was interesting but I just could not get into it. It just wasn't for me!!!
