I read this book as part of my exploration of the classics, atracting me with its subject matter (a critique of American culture and capitalism of the 1920s), and with the reputation of its author, Sinclair Lewis, who won both a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize in Literature. It's an enjoyable look into the white American businessman's conservative family and community life of that time, and the conflict it eventually occasioned for the main character, George F. Babbitt. I also read most of Lewis' best-selling book, "Main Street", which satirized small-town America of the 1910s (but my library subscription expired before I could finish that book).
