Oh my god did I cry with this book! It was my first introduction to Toni Morrison and I've been a huge fan ever since. While I get the sense she's always looking backwards, Morrison raises complex issues about race while writing in a beautifully lyrical style. I don't think the Bluest Eye is her best work, but I definitely connected to it

Excellent reference book for in-depth study of the parallel passages in the gospels.
