I read this book because it was offered by Nook for free. The book was okay, but I felt it was predictable. I knew going into it that it was a Christian romance novel, but it was over the top in how preachy it was. I've read Christian books and other clean romances previously, but the way the characters talked was not normal. The refernces to God (praise God, Trust in God), were over-the-top. The were used so extensively that it came across as not realistic.

An interesting start, but the ending left me wanting. However, I do appreciate Hughes' historical acuracy and the educational value of his historical novels.
