Big, strange, and mysterious, this novel takes middle America into one of the most engrossing fantasy setting every envisaged. It's characters aren't quite the most identifiable, but the tone makes up for it. Well, almost. I saw the twist coming from miles away (okay, about 100 pages) and I found it so difficult to connect with Gaiman's panoply of reused gods and his nondescript main character, Shadow, that it was only the tone and writing that kept the novel alive.

Milan Kundera is one of the sexiest writers... his interplay on words evokes all kinds of emotions that would not think would exist while reading a book. one of my favorite writers.
