An absolutely gorgeous "protofeminist" read. In retrospect, I should not have read the title story for the first time while pregnant and on forced bedrest... still give me the chills thinking about it.

After reading about 3 chapters, I realized that my previous assumption that this book was about an amazing dog wasn't correct. While the dog was of course amazing, not much praise or gratitude was directed toward her. After mentioning in great detail all other seeing eye dogs he had ever owned, he breifly talks about the dog that supposedly saved his life on 9/11. In three chapters of reading, i think Hingson talked about the dog and 9/11 for a grand total of 6 sentences. A disappointing read, which could have been much better had it been about what the title itself promises.
