It took me a little while to get through it, but I'm glad I did. I grew up with the Disney Jungle Book movies so the first story in the book wasn't too much of a surprise. I didn't realize that this book was more than just the one story. I'd heard of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi before, but I didn't know it was part of this book. All of the stories seemed to have a similar theme of growing into unknown potential and the differences of personalities. It was very interesting to read.

The writing seems dated to me in its melodrama.
