I have read this book multiple times. This is the book that introduced me to Hemingway. I thought it was beautifully written.

Alice Waters says (and I agree), that M.F.K. Fisher "defines in a sensual and beautiful way the vital relationship between food and culture." Also check out Gastronomica, an academic journal of food and culture, on which Waters and anthropologist Sidney Mintz sit as advisory board members.
