I don't know many people who've run into this book, probably because its market likely consists of 1) me; 2) my sister; and 3) Anjana. Some of the writing seems awkward (the translation?), but Moers is an evil genius. Adorably illustrated, clever enough to prompt inevitable Douglas Adams comparisons, and very warm. The length/juvenilia balance might be off for most kids, but it's worth a shot.
