Not quite as good as Devil wears Prada, but a fun read.
Say what you will about those 300 Spartans at Thermopylae--they had nothing on the Jews that fought against the German army during the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. This story tells that tale, and although it consists of fictionlized characters, what they represent is as real as any. Human endurance, spirit, perserverance: all are traits possessed by the heroic personages in this novel. True, it is more cinematic than it is literary, but few authors can pull that off with as much skill as Leon Uris does here.
