Like J.D. Salinger's book, it made me appreciate symbolism in books. And just like "Catcher in the Rye" it made me wanna be even weirder than I already was at the age of 14.

Took me forever to read this; I kept skipping around and quitting. Finally I locked in and enjoyed it somewhat. Getting into the mind of an autistic person was compelling, and the tension in the story was pretty good. It didn't wow me, though.

pure candy with lots of theories of the production/consumption of books thrown in. My question is, was Calvino just screwing around with the many ideas in his head or was he consciously aping certain authors? i find evidence for both suggestions.
