So, Baby Benefits is the sequel to Baby on the Billionaire’s Doorstep, where Derek learns he's a father instead of his brother Dex and for the first time he is at a loss, since he took over the business reins at seventeen, leaving school. He's never regretted the sacrifices he has had to make for business and it is his life, as usual he calls his trusted secretary Raina. Raina has worked for Derek for nine years and she's been in love with him for eight, ever since he helped her family out. Raina left her dream of culinary school behind to support her mother and siblings but now it is the end of the road, they are all grown up and she thinks it is time to quit a job that demands too much of her and that she isn't sure she likes. Then she hears Derek is a father and she gets more angry, he's never noticed her but he slept with an employee? She asks for a good deal in return for helping him connect with his daughter after that she will leave. My thoughts. I am not a fan of unrequited love at all, I'd rather have the heroine move on rather than moping around seeing her boss's dating habits. I never warmed up to Derek he seemed too cold to me and the woman he wooed for business, his fiancee Kitty(whose book I am going to read next), came off as very shallow. I didn't even like Raina much and didn't see how she loved Derek and was foolish enough to seduce him to make him break off his engagement(which he'd already broken off days ago). The HEA wasn't convincing to me. Also, why he slept with Jewel was never discussed. Disappointing.
