Literatura fantástica de calidad, bien organizada y narrada. Elementos mágicos inolvidables, basados en la fuerza de las palabras. Muy recomendable.
I met Linda Dark Horse only a few years ago, but I feel as if I’d known her all my life. That’s just Linda, how she is and how she treats her friends. It’s not all that often anymore that you find a person that’s truly and honestly just a loving and accepting person. Linda is that person. In talking with her, I found myself able to be completely myself without fear of looking foolish or being condemned for some short coming. More than that though, she’s a compassionate councilor that will tell you exactly what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. As I learned more and more of her personal story, I grew increasingly respectful of her wisdom, hard won as it is. You see, she never wore her wounds and medals on her sleeve, but doled out only the item most likely to be constructive to the situation at hand. She’s quick to console, but slow to boast, although I have heard her proclaim, “She’s a poor dog that can’t wag her own tail”. The point is, she knows when to be humble and when to strut her stuff! I began encouraging her to commit her experiences to paper more than three years ago. I knew that as much as she helped friends and acquaintances with her unique brand of common sense and wisdom, her story could reach so many more hurting and broken people in print. Linda Dark Horse has a special “Gift” to know what’s in people’s hearts and tell them what the truth is. She delivers her message with love and directness that’s borne of an honest desire to help. I realized that if this story were ever to be told, I was going to need assistance in convincing Linda. I found allies worthy of the task in her husband, and her best friend, and along the way, came to know much more of what had shaped this amazing lady into the woman she is today. The three of us pursued her relentlessly until, in August of 2002, she finally gave in. That is, she gave in, with a condition. She knew that telling her story would mean reliving the events in all their emotion and detail. She said simply, “Neil, you have to be my partner in it…” To say I felt unworthy the task would be far too kind. But as always, she would hear none of my protests and excuses. I couldn’t give her any reason that she would accept, so I too gave in. After all, who else could get her to type, using contractions? The last two and a half years that I’ve partnered with Linda on this project have been the most incredible learning experience of my life! To accompany her on the journey from her beginnings in Sturgis, South Dakota, through the pinnacles and valleys of emotional, spiritual, and yes, even sexual evolution… I’m truly privileged. I am a better person today, just through being there as she told the tales. I can’t help but imagine that this is much how she must have felt sitting and learning from her Grandfather. As you follow her through these pages, you too will be moved and shaped. You can’t help it, I assure you. Be sure to visit www.lindadarkhorse.com for more information.
I found this book at my library's returned book cart. (Always check the returned book cart.) This was a terrific graphic novel. It was very unique and some of the narrative imagery was the most creative I've ever seen. Well worth the read if you ever come across it.
