This is just about the closest I come to reading chick-lit. The title is misleading, as there's very little about this book that is political. The main character's role of "Abortionist's Daughter" has little, if anything, to do with the thematic elements of the book. When Megan's mother, a well-known abortion provider in their small Colorado town, is found dead in her lap pool at home, everyone wants to know "whodunnit." However, a mystery being solved is far less interesting and far more unsettling when it's your family at the foreground. There were elements of this book I loved and elements I hated. The romance was unnecessary and the ending was a little disappointing... but it was a captivating and engaging book that kept me turning pages. I finished it in a day. Worth it from the library but not one I'd suggest buying.
