The Pact is a story about love gone extremely bad. I've read one other book by Jodi Picoult and that was My Sister's Keeper. In that book, I disliked the ending. It felt rushed and tacked on at the end because she didn't know how to end it. The ending of this book isn't the same but I saw the ending coming from a mile away. I can't say it is cliche because I have not read another book with the same plot, but I also can't say that I was astonished and moved by the ending. It was just ok, not bad, not great. I had expected to like this book more than I did because I'm a sucker for romantic tragedies. However, even though it did not live up to my expectations, I still enjoyed reading it. There were some typos that I'm sure should have been corrected by the editor, but the way the story itself is told is fantastic. Picoult has a way of hooking you enough so that you read through the book, no matter how much you might dislike an element in it.
