Being a life-long Pittsburgher, I was excited about this book based in Pittsburgh. What a disappointment. It was boring, dull and predictable. At first, following the scenes of my hometown and the neighborhood I grew up in made it tolerable but that isn't good enough to carry a whole book and there was absolutely nothing else. 80-year-old Emily keeps herself busy by worrying about stupid mundane everyday things.The thought of spending time with her in real life would be tedious and exhausting. She gives old age a bad name that is down right embarrassing. I kept hoping for something of substance that never came. Sorry, Stewart O'Nan you won't catch me reading any of your other books.
