This is a very moving and important book since the facts of this atrocity are highly disputed by the Japanese (they often deny it even happened) and often ignored by the West. While in China last year, the book was recommended to me by my guide who was from Nanking. It was a real eye opener for me to hear for the first time the kind of horrendous acts that were perpetrated on innocent civilians. The details were often hard to read and sometimes they seemed so outrageous that I wondered if the author was exaggerating just to emphasize her points. Probably not, but that would be easier to swallow than the alternative. We hear so much about the horrible things that happened in Europe during WWII that after reading this book I felt really bad I had been so ignorant about these events.

I've marked this as "to read", that is, if I can ever find it.

** spoiler alert ** 4.5 stars... Wow...that was some honeymoon!!! River Marked picks up with the wedding of Mercy and Adam. Adam is persuaded, by Uncle Mike, a Fae, to take Mercy on a camping honeymoon. Apparently Yo-yo girl has had a premonition and thinks Mercy and Adam need to be in the area she saw in the premonition. And thus the adventure begins. This story is VERY Mercy and Adam centric. I really liked seeing them interact as normal couple. Just because they are in the "honeymoon" phase doesn't mean they won't bicker at each other. And they did bicker! They are trying to find that happy medium of being a couple after each have been single for so long. I found the native American folklore and Mercy's background very interesting. In the past when I have read folklore within a story it came across boring and mundane. I did not get this feeling at all while reading River Marked. The information given was pertinent and not overwhelming and didn't slow down the story at all. I'm glad we got an update on Stefan and it was nice to see Mercy spend time with Warren and Kyle. I especially liked seeing Warren and Ben help Stefan out while he rebuild his menagerie. What I did miss was the sex! They are on their honeymoon and all of the sexy, romantic time was glossed over. I would have really liked one good smexy scene. I also wish I'd gotten an update on Sam. Yes, he was at the wedding, but it would have been nice to find out how things were going with Ariana. But I guess I can't have my cake and eat it too! ;) This was a damn good read that I couldn't put down. Can't wait for the next!!!

I love these books. I love Felix Castor. He's one of the best characters I've ever read.

I have really enjoyed this series. At this point (3rd book in) the basic story lines are similar, but Rowe throws in so many wacky occurrences that they are still enjoyable. The reason I only gave it three stars was because of the similar basic outline and because the main couple introduced in the first book has not made another appearance, while all other characters have, in each book, which I found to be a little odd.
