Pretty standard for Jodi Picoult. Too many current event topics that cloud the plot and any connection with the characters. The twists were predictable or not very interesting. Sometimes too many issues make for a murky story.

William G. Davis's chapter on "Class, Political Constraints, and Entrepeneurial Stratages: Elites and Petty Market Traders in North Luzon" is a great read.
