I have absolutely no doubt that this book is going to be amazing! *After reading it* Yup, I was right. This book exceeded my expectations :)

After reading a third of the book, I noticed that It is a self-help book. As a happy person myself, I didn't find it is useful for me to deal with stress in daily life. But if you are going to start your own happy project to make your life happier, this book will give you some idea how to start it. Overall, it's a good book to read. It won't make you happy just because you read the book. You need to develop your own happy project and increase your own happiness from your project.

These are funny little flip books which my principal picked up in Seattle at AAIE a few years ago. Although there isn't much meat, the flip books might be useful with TAs or parents who are being asked to work with Guided Reading groups, or for a quick sense of what guided reading/shared reading looks like.

I liked the book, as much for Stegner's writing as for the story. His use of language sharpens my perception of life and makes me look under the surface of the everyday. This story speculates in part on the role of wealth in one's enjoyment of life. Sid and Charity have the financial resources to own a country compound with a lake, where they can invite friends and family to share their lives with. While their character flaws prevented them from perhaps the fullest happiness, they nevertheless enjoyed good friendship, a lovely window on nature, and the satisfaction that children can bring. Larry and Sally have a strong marriage, professional success, and their friendship with Sid and Charity enriches their lives. Not exactly a happy ending but a lot to think about.
