The author describes this book as an "homage" to E.M. Forster. Much of it is based on Howard's End, but it brings in contemporary issues of race and gender as well. The writing is great, but the direction that the main character, Howard, takes is so ridiculous that the book lost some of the charm it held for me at the beginning.
