I've always loved the ending to this book.
Enjoyable with good identity questions, but hardly worth all the honors which were bestowed on it
This was the first book I finished after coming to Japan. I'd started it at home and it made the trip with me and I finished it on the couch in my first apartment. So, I guess The Stand is special to me for that reason, as well as it simply being an amazing read. The Stand is yet another example of King at his best. The myriad of characters all have impressive depth and experience growth and change as efficiently as if they were the stars of a short story, but the plot chugs along a twisted and winding road that only an epic novel could contain. Some of King's finest work in weaving together his strengths, The Stand is perhaps the only 1,000+ page novel that I would go back and read a second time.
