This book was one of those books, that didn't so much appeal to me as a story, but it appealed to me as a person. Honestly, I respect Barbara for stepping up to the plate, and stepping down into these people's lives. Eventually, someone had to do it. I agree that the poor people represented in her book need better treatment, and public attention like this is exactly the way to do it. However, I think she could have executed it better. She should have spent more time in the situations, because if you simply quit once things get rough you don't get a complete understanding of the situation. She was right that the poverty is a problem, but in the end, it just described in more detail a problem about a problem which we already knew existed.
