Uf!
Vampires, werewolves, warlocks, demons, shadow hunters, flying bikes, oh and incest? WTF? Honestly at a certain point, I actually saw that coming. Really though? I've seen some of what is to come in future books and I'm just dying to know how that's going to happen. There was decent action and the plot was written well enough to keep me drawn to it but there were too many things that had me asking "really?" an awful lot. I enjoyed the personalities of the characters for the most part, especially Jace and his wittiness. I was loving the book until the so called twist took place with the cup. After that, the rest of the book let me own a bit. There was a different side of Jace that I didn't particularly like seeing. Im hoping the next books will get better and I can have less WTF moments. I so want to give these book 5 stars but I just can't do it for this one.
very well written. all of the characters are very real and human and likable. much happier with the narrator in the book than with jack burden in the movie (sean penn and jude law). have heard that the old black and white version was extremely well done, though. there are some beautiful passages in the story. =)
wow! This is one of these books that makes you nervous because you get closer to the end and don't want it to stop. Fabulous book about "the help" i.e. colored maids. Jackson, Mississippi in 1963. I enjoyed this book greatly, having lived in the South in the 60's it rang so true. I like a book that keeps you thinking about it after you put it down.
This book is very simple and straightforward. I read it for my ninth grade honors english class, and I can see how it would be a good book for children or pre-teens to read. It has a good moral, as well. I think everyone should know a little bit about their heritage and respect it, instead of becoming the same as everybody else.
