I love the way that Mary Doria Russell writes, and I love both science fiction and historical fiction. I learned so much about northern Italy during WWII due to this book, as I tend to want to research things as I read about them in fiction. This book was so engrossing, I hardly noticed that I'd read the whole thing during a rather grueling day of traveling with my 7-year-old, who was mercifully distracted with comic books all day. I can't wait to read her next book.
