I was always a person that said I wouldnt read Harry Potter, as I assumed it's mass popularity was somewhat undeserved. I finally read this story and loved it, in fact this particular book has made me want to read more fantasy (including the remaining Harry Potter books)

I love Harper Lee. She has created a truly timeless classic with this book. Her character were great, eache one of them was in depth, and had a purpose. The best character, however, was Scout. Scout is the narrator of the novel and the way she sees the world is truly inspiring. I wish I had half of her wit and self-confidence. The plot is perfect, but simple, with a few twists. It was a book, that I am so glad I read.

Hard not to see the parallel between original sin and human development post-fall in this book, not-coincidentally titled 'east of eden', a verse taken directly from Genesis 4:16. Great character development, spanning a total of three generations.
