Embarking another journey through the magical world of Harry Potter, I enjoyed this short compilation of some of the "fantastic beasts" found in the Harry Potter Universe. However I was quite disappointed in a few things: 1. No "three-headed-dog": this creature had an important role in the HP series and it would have been appropriate if it had been featured in the book. I forgive Newt Scamander though, he stated that the book only contains SOME of the creatures. But still... isn't it fantastic enough to be included? :( 2. Why are most of the creatures found in Europe ONLY? Few of them are native to other parts of the world. I guess because the author (Newt Scamander/JKR) lives in Europe. 3. I wanted a thicker book with more of magical creatures. More, more, pretty please. ^_^ 4. I thought Newt Scamander would at least state firsthand experiences about some of the creatures since he traveled in various places across the world for research on the beasts. Nope, he just took accounts of people who saw/encountered them. What if these "eyewitnesses" were doing it to mock him. Cause that's what I'll definitely do. *grins* But then, Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus. Right! 5. Hmmm... I can't think of anything else disappointing about this book except... I want to own a "Runespoor". It sucks that it being in the book means it is not real and could not be acquired in real life. The slytherin in me wants this three-headed-snake with the three heads having different functions. So yeah...umm.. I love the book... save for the one star I didn't give because of my childish reasons of craving for more magic. (Throws tantrums, kicking the tearstained floor with my skinny legs.) There goes a chunk of my childhood portruding from the floorboard of well-preserved Harry Potter memorabilia. *_* Pardon my rant. *sniffs* I give 4/5 stars.

Stella Hardesty is not your typical widow. First off, her husband was an abuser who regularly beat her. Second, Stella killed her husband with a wrench one day when she couldn't take his fists on her face anymore. She has never been tried for that murder. Third, since her husbands death, Stella has had a side business of helping battered women deal with their abusive partners. And by deal, we don't mean escape. No, Stella has little chats with the husbands, chats involving kidnapping and violence. Some of the men shape up. Some ship out, never to be seen again. It is those latter that have lead to the rumours that she kills them. Her latest client, Chrissy has a different problem, her abusive ex, Roy Dean has disappeared and so has Chrissy'a 18 month-old son, Tucker. Now Stella has to find the boy before it's too late, while dodging the inquiring of the local sherrif, who seems to know that something is up. A very good revenge fantasy/mystery, with just enough grit to make it interesting.
