For the most part I'm past any sort of chick-lit, teen-lit phase... if I ever even went through one of those phases, honestly I think the closest I got to that was with the Babysitters Club in elementary school, and I countered that with the Goosebumps series. Anywho, I digress. But I had this book on my shelf, and on my list and I figured that after the last two books I read, I needed something light to read. This book was actually a really good choice. Don't expect to pick up this book and be wowed by amazing writing and a surprising plot. It's not a classic novel. This is one of those fun, good reads you pick up sometime when you're not looking for anything heavy and deep. It's also a quick read (about two hours for me) and something you don't have to focus on, so perfect for an airplane ride or a day at the beach. I was surprised how into this book I got, though. At times I was getting upset, angry, even nervous while following Annisa's story. Of course none of the relationships or characters were written to be really deep, even Annisa came off as two demensional quite often. And the amount of product placement, name dropping stuff became a little annoying at times, but I looked at it as just another way to draw young readers in. Just giving them another way to relate to Annisa and the others in the story. Really, I can't criticize this book too much because, come on, how much do you really think I expected of this book. Surprisingly it gave me a lot more than I figured it would, and all in all it was a really fun read. If you're into an intellectually stimulating novel that will get you thinking, leave this one on the shelves. Otherwise? Give this one a chance.
