I loved every beautifully written word of this book. The premise is awesome, the visual imagery is staggeringly powerful, and the emotional pull is intense. Wow . . . Tahereh Mafi can write! And she does it while following her own rules. Her style is unconventional and powerfully emotional--delicious, every single word. I love the originality of the premise and the world of this novel. Juliette is a strong female character. She radiates power yet is sweetly vulnerable. I love her innate goodness, though it's a part of her she must learn to believe in. The hunky love interest, Adam, compliments her character well. I love his devotion to her and the backstory between the two of them. And Warner, though evil and not who I want to see win, is surprisingly charming and almost likable. This book will mesmerize you and keep you turning pages until well past your bedtime. In my opinion, SHATTER ME successfully lived up to the marketing phenom behind it. I wasn't disappointed. And I can't wait for the sequel!!

Interesting POV and thoughtful for what happens to a family when tragedy strikes yet I have no interest in watching the movie. Some stories are just too tough to get through although this novel was much more involved and written better than her memoir...Lucky. Update: WELL...looking at this one again...although the writing is sometimes hard to get through, there are things in this novel that would be interesting to see on the screen. After I've finished looking at it again, I do plan to watch the movie...LOL. I'll post a review of Hollywood's portrayal of the story afterwards so watch for it.
