This eighth installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series was not nearly as gripping as the seventh, but it was still an absorbing read, and the ending actually makes up for some of the excitement the book lacked. It doesn't end as neatly as the other books, and it feels less like a complete tale and more like a bridge between what had gone before and what is to come in book nine, scheduled for release in May 2009. If you've read the other installments, definitely read this one, but expect to leave it with the sense that you've only read the first half of a more complicated story.
