So i just wrote a lengthy review of this book and then the page crashed. FUCK YOU INTERNET EXPLORER. IM A GOOGLE CHROMER NOW. Anyway. Im kinda glad it did, because i began laying into this book more than necessary, because i REALLYREALLYREALLY enjoyed it, and i have no idea where all the critisism came from. It is SO easy to criticise yet so hard to describe why i liked it. So this time, i'm going to begin wih the good. Lena was a strong character (most of the time). she was a little bit sassy with the romance, whereas she had this almost warrior-like character coming. So one minute shes knifing people, then she's sighing over bloody Julians nipples. Sorry, im criticising again. The writing: AMAZING. thought-provoking. Imaginative, everything I LOVE. Like it was personally written for me! Ohohoh, and there were EXPLOSIONS. MALE HORMONES LIKE EXPLOSIONS! "bitch get back in the kitchen. sandwhich. now." EXPLOSIONS! OK, so the bad: the plot was aimless, yet long and so unpredictabley predictable. Some characters were too sidelined, whereas some pretty much hogged the whole book. And the time-point chapter thing going on. Now and then. that thing. It was good, but i dont think it was necessarily helpful. it had no purpose. There was no meeting of the time points. Like a time where 'then' would become 'now. I presumed the climax of the book would be around that point, but it wasnt. There was no harmony. The book just ended on more explosions, which were throughout the book anyway. But the good. Was good. And whilst the bad was an inconvenience, i only really noticed them when i thought about it. The romance was strong (yet a little cliche). The plot was holy. (not the godly kind). And overall, this is a VERY flawed book. But it holds charm and dignity, and... something else. i read the book in two days! thats got too mean its good. So thank you Lauren Oliver for another brilliant novel. I just hope the next book blows my mind! Oh, and if you don't like cliff hangers... stay the hell away. Worse cliff-hanger than the last book. jaisus. that is all ;)
