Recipient of an Andvanced Reader's Copy of Lot’s Return to Sodom. Brace yourself, Brannan’s second book is more graphic, gritty, and suspenseful than her first (and I thought her first – In The Belly of Jonah- was all that!). Brannan creates characters you root for even when you shouldn’t like “Mully” whom I hope reappears in her series. I’m not one who enjoys a “series of books,” in fact I steer clear however Brannan has me hooked; the romance is downplayed yet tension filled, the plot is richly researched and believable, and the pace is like a roller coaster through a long mountainous pass. You know you have found a great author when waiting for her next book is pure agony.

Despite the obvious must-read status of S&S, I found the actual novel rather tedious. I don't want to downplay Austen's genius, but I have had a bit more than my share of it. I must admit, Elinor Dashwood is my favorite of the Austen heroine. So entirely repressed and decidedly desirous of poise, she creates this fabulous character to whom all women achingly relate.
