An account of one of the deadliest summit to Everest. It's a tragedy, and you know how it ends, but somehow you're pulled into the story. I think everyone has that sense of adventure within them no matter how much of a city slicker they are, and this is a good place to start. Everyone should read at least one mountain expedition book or subscribe to Outside (free publicity).

Um....this book gets mixed reviews from me. The narration revolves between Sarah, a Jewish child living in Paris during WWII and a modern day journalist (I can't remember her name) assigned to report on the round up and deportation of French Jews to Auschwitz (of which Sarah was a part of). Sarah's story get 4 stars from me. The modern day storyline gets 2. I can't tell you how many times I thought this lady was an idiot for staying with her jerky husband so long, and then when she finally moves away from him, she's still the same idiot!! Plus, I felt a lot of her plot was overly dramatic. Can't say I would recommend this one. I just didn't love it, and there are so many more historical fiction books about this era that are actually good...I wouldn't waste your time on this one.
