go to npr and listen to the elf employee story on mp3. So hilarious
I loved this book and did reread it several times. A sad but fascinating and somehow uplifting story. Told by Charley, a developmentally disabled man who undergoes an experiment to increase his intelligence, the way the same experiment did for a lab rat (Algernon), and what happens then; so it’s told by Charley with different I.Q. levels. Really great commentary on the importance of intelligence, what it means to belong or not belong, and creates in the reader empathy for all, especially those with developmental disabilities.
