Really good slasher poetry.
cool and sad!
This was a slow starter for me with the beginning so well set up as a police procedural murder mystery about a student being killed that it took me a while to get into it, but once there, I can only stand in awe of Mieville's ability to create a credible speculative world based on a very intriguing idea: 2 cities that are geographically overlapped or proxemic to each other but whose inhabitants are not allowed to "see" each other or they have committed a "breach." In fact, while I did not mind, the resolution of the murder was less satisfying than the geography of getting there, and I do mean "geography."
