this book really grows on you. the act of the book is delightfully performative, as it plays out in the reader's mind the (surprisingly) pleasantly grotesque and disturbing processes described within. the book is very much like a car wreck; the reader a rubbernecker. an expert work of science fiction, and a book i will be reading again.
