It's amazing how much I did remember from this book, but there was a lot I had forgotten. Wonderful!

This is an amazing book and a very quick read (that's coming from someone who is not a fast reader). Miller gives her argument for allowing students to choose their own books, providing them with ample books in the classroom, and also taking them to the school library. She details how reading in her sixth-grade classroom works, and how she is able to get dormant (often called reluctant) readers to read, and how she is able to help developing (often called struggling) readers to work on their skills -- by READING. The author presents research from the field and also gives her own experiences in enough detail that you can see it working in your own classroom and classrooms in your school. I highly recommend this book to ALL K-12 teachers (regardless of subject you teach), school librarians and administrators, and parents.

An avid-reader friend calls this his 'favorite' book,and so I HAD to read it. LOVED it. A true masterpeice and staple of its time.
