I've read this book 3 or 4 times and it's one of my favorite adventure books of all time. In fact, I think of myself as a hobbit each winter.....I like to burrow in my "hobbit hole" with a well-stocked larder and good books and ignore the doorbell and telephone. For some strange reason I had trouble getting into Fellowship of the Ring. I don't think I gave it enough of a chance, and plan to read the LOTR trilogy this summer.
