I don't know if I'd been more impressed by this if I hadn't already read 'The Interpretation of Murder' - I was interested in the historical references, but I thought it was a bit long - and quite a straightforward tale, no blind alleys or subplots...the suspense of the final scene seemed more than a bit contrived as well. I'd recommend this to a historic crime lover, but I wouldn't read it a second time
A surprisingly good read. Definitely high end chick lit (if there is such a thing). This book paints the story of a group of women all going through some sort of emotional crisis, so they escape for one month to Tuckernuck Island and the generations old family home. The author creates a really good balance of trauma and romance and humour. A thoroughly enjoyable read full of spunky people, fancy or quirky homes and beautiful scenery. This Aussie now wants to visit Nantucket!
