The book makes many interesting social observations. It gets into the point of view of many different characters and deviates chronologically, but it is never boring. At times, it can be quite funny. Most characters have a different voice, and at times it can be distracting. My least favorite character is Archie, because he seems to be the only one who doesn't change.
A beautiful book, Doig exposes his childhood, growing up in the expansive Montana mountains. A perfect book to read if you're out of your element. Read this and you might feel a little like you're back in the Rocky Mountains yourself (even if you're riding the T in Boston and there are no mountains to be seen!).
