4.5 out of 5. Another riveting story from an author who appears to have "nailed" the knack of telling a very good love story wrapped in a tense, nail-biting kind of mystery/undercover effort. A congresswoman's daughter has disappeared; an attorney who is a close friend of the hero's boss is being stalked by her child-abuser cousin; the hero is in the throes of his own emotional/mental/psychological melt-down as he struggles with loss and grief over the deaths of two colleagues. Lots going on in this novel and lots that is instructive as well as entertaining. The author's previous book, "Man Law" introduces some of the characters so there is that continuity. But it is in every way a stand-alone book. I was delighted to read about the continuing story of some of those characters, but they most assuredly do not take over the story. This is a marvelous read and one that lovers of romance mixed with suspense will find this a compelling novel and very satisfying read.
I wrote it, so I've decided I can't rate it.
