This book sat on my floor for a while because the bookflap didn't properly set the tone for the book. It's satirical and feminist and fun. After their plane crashes on an island, the surviving teen beauty queens must learn how to survive when asked to be more than just beautiful. The ability to express a need for world peace won't help them, but it turns out cans of hairspray make an excellent weapon. On a (supposedly) deserted island, the cookie cutter facade of a beauty queen cracks and the girls discover that they all have "flaws" (also that flaws aren't really flaws) . The girls learn to overcome their stereotypes and save the day (without the help of the reality tv rock-star pirates). The book is broken up with advertisements and announcements from "the Corporation", the sponser of the Miss Teen Dream beauty pagent. and foreign arms dealer. Overall the book is a little silly, but it has a good message, and is definitely a fun read.
