This book was told from a thirteen year old girls' point of view. Jubie is growing up in 1954, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Interesting take on segregation, racisim, love and family during this tumultuous time between white people and black people. Definitely a book that I will recommend to my 13 year old daughter for a look into history through another child's perspective. I enjoyed this book. However,there were difficult situations to read.
