I was disappointed in this. It's an interesting theme, a period of history I have read widely in and always been fascinated by, but I found the story itself sentimental and not especially believable: only one passing reference to Freedom Summer?! I thought Stockett did a good job of portraying the social hierarchy among the white women in Jackson, and in Minny and Aibileen she gave us a couple of unforgettable characters.

Found this at Wonderbooks today for 3 bucks! Deitrich Bonhoeffer was executed for his faith by Hitler. He wrote most of his work in German Prison. An amazing story!

I liked the ending of this book but didn't enjoy getting there. A very good series that would keep anyone wanting to read more.
